Application Support Officer
(Microsoft 365 and Power Platform)
(Preferably based the Netherlands, but open to hire in countries with MSF contracting offices, CET +/- 2 hours)
Position objective
The Application Support Officer will be responsible for optimal usage and usability of assigned applications by end-users in the countries of operation and at the Operational Center Amsterdam. As a member of our ICT department, you will focus on supporting our Microsoft 365, Power Platform, and SharePoint Online solutions to enable smart working, enhanced collaboration, and digital productivity.
A day in a life
A day in life of Application support officers starts with a quick sync with the team to review outstanding Tickets and any overnight support tickets related to our digital workplace tools—think Microsoft 365, Teams, Power platform
You identify a recurring issue with document synchronization in SharePoint and immediately flag it for deeper if needed analysis.
Mid-morning, you join a cross-functional workshop with different teams to refine needs for an upcoming enhancement of one of our systems — helping employees seamlessly using the system Your insights help align the technical possibilities with user expectations.
After lunch, you review feedback from a recent internal survey on digital collaboration pain points. and begin drafting a proposal for a pilot.
In the afternoon, you test a set of updates to our identity and access management configuration to ensure smooth integration with new tools introduced. Later, you meet with a peer to evaluate features in their product that might benefit our evolving digital workspace
Before wrapping up your day, you document the day’s activities and insights ensuring knowledge continuity and laying the groundwork for iterative improvements. You close your laptop knowing that your work today has made it easier for teams across the organization to connect, create, and collaborate—no matter where they are.
Main responsibilities
You stay informed regarding Microsoft 365 (with special focus on Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint Online) and the Power Platform (mainly PowerApps, Power Automate, PowerBI), their strengths, limitations and developments, and the ways they are being used by staff in the countries of operation as well as for different departments in the Operational Center Amsterdam.
You overcome the problems and resistance regarding the usage of these applications by timely resolving questions and tickets, and by giving advice to end-users. You cooperate with internal colleagues as well as MSF’s Shared IT Services (SITS) to find solutions.
You use your knowledge to optimise the usability of our Power Platform and Microsoft 365 solutions, to find ways to configure or adapt the functionality and propose improvements.
You support the testing and roll-out of solutions, among others by creating comprehensive functional documentation and learning resources as well as assist in the training of end-users and signalling possible issues regarding functionality.
You regularly check the usability of applications based on ticket resolutions and seek continuous improvements.
You are in close contact with the Solutions Architect and the Information Management Team for the activities mentioned above. You maintain an effective relationship with the teams using the applications assigned to you.You collaborate with the Solution Architect to implement and improve a Low Code Solution Development policy to enable better governance and best practices to better enable citizen development in our organization.
Candidate Profile
Bachelor/Master degree in Computer Science or related field
Microsoft Certifications are an advantage, for example: Power Platform Fundamentals (PL-900), Microsoft 365 Fundamentals (MS-900), Microsoft 365 Administrator (MS-102), Managing MS Teams (MS-700) or similar.
General IT Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft 365, the Power Platform and SharePoint Online, of support processes, and of their integrations with other parts of the IT Landscape.
Proven experience supporting Microsoft 365 and the Power Platform in an enterprise environment
Hands-on experience automating business processes using Power Automate, supporting and developing Power Apps and integrating solutions using various Power Platform components
Basic understanding of Microsoft licensing models and low-code governance and best practices
Nice-to-have skills: Basic knowledge and experience with scripting for automation and bulk operations (PowerShell or Python for example), using ShareGate to manage SharePoint and awareness of SharePoint Framework (SPFx)
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Clear written and verbal communication.
Accuracy in administration and documentation.
Effective communication and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Self-starter with a proactive approach to learning new technologies.
The ability to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions.

If you are based in the Netherlands:
A Dutch employment contract, based on 40 hours per week. It is a one-year contract with a renewal option.
A gross monthly salary in scale 15 with a current salary range between 3,743 and 5,153 euros. Your exact salary will depend on relevant work experience.
